We are recruiting for a Communications Officer

Hostage International is entering an exciting new phase of development of its services and profile, and as part of it, we are recruiting a part-time Communications Officer.

We are an organisation which until now has made a conscious effort to stay ‘below the radar’. While we need a higher profile for the next stage of our development, discretion and confidentiality, especially about individual cases, is critical.

To develop our profile, we are looking for a dynamic professional who has a track record in handling media enquiries and writing public and internal communications. Working with staff and trustees, the Communications Officer will play a key role in providing direction and structure to our communications strategy and implementing key tasks. Please read the job description below to learn more.

The position is part-time; we are looking for candidates who can commit between 15 to 20 hours a week. The role is offered on a one-year fixed-term contract, with a possibility of extension after that.

The deadline for applications is Friday 23 August 2019. Please send your CV and a covering letter to [email protected]. In the covering letter, please outline the qualities you would bring to the role and how your skills and experience meet the requirements highlighted in the job description.

We will reply to all applications by 30 August to let candidates know whether they have been short-listed for interview. We are a very small charity and therefore, unable to provide feedback on unsuccessful applications.

Interviews will take place in London in September.
